Apleona is seeking an experienced Senior EHS Specialist to support Environment, Health and Safety performance within our integrated facilities management operation for a global biopharmaceutical client.
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm

Main duties and responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance, as well as day-to-day support to EHS colleagues across three client sites.
- Coordinate common EHS priorities and promote consistency
- Share good practices, lessons learned and improvement opportunities, and provide competent EHS advice to operational management teams.
- Support the development of a positive, proactive and accountable safety culture.
- Support implementation of the Apleona operational, key account and client EHS objectives and coordinate agreed EHS programmes, campaigns and improvement initiatives.
- Monitor relevant regulatory developments and communicate applicable changes, while identifying practical opportunities to improve EHS performance.
- Support mobilisation and change activities where required.
- Provide advice on applicable Irish health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, Apleona and client compliance expectations.
- Support the maintenance and review of legal registers and related compliance actions, monitor EHS compliance and escalate significant issues to operational management.
- Support site audit-readiness activities and participate in client audits, internal audits and regulatory inspections.
- Support operational teams in monitoring contractor compliance, achieving contractual EHS requirements, and in the management of high-risk work and critical controls.
- Provide technical support for the development and review of suitable and sufficient risk assessments.
- Review significant hazards and recommend appropriate risk-reduction measures.
- Coordinate the communication of relevant lessons learned across supported locations.
- Escalate significant/unresolved EHS risks through the appropriate management channels, and support and lead investigations in incidents, near misses and environmental events.
- Provide guidance on root-cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Track investigation and CAPA progress and escalate overdue or ineffective actions, while reviewing incident information to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Provide EHS advice and support for contractor activities.
- Support contractor onboarding, qualification and performance monitoring and review contractor EHS performance, escalating significant concerns.
- Work with procurement and operational teams to promote compliance with site and statutory requirements.
- Maintain effective working relationships with relevant Apleona and client stakeholders and act as a key EHS contact for matters relating to Apleona’s operations.
- Provide EHS updates and performance information at relevant operational meetings.
- Support client inspections, audits and EHS improvement discussions.
- Work with Quality, Engineering and Operations to support alignment with applicable GMP and GxP requirements.
- Monitor and report contractual EHS KPIs and performance measures and prepare EHS reports, dashboards and management updates.
- Use available digital systems to maintain accurate EHS records and performance information.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 7 years' EHS experience within a regulated industrial, pharmaceutical, life sciences or manufacturing environment.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience providing EHS guidance or coordinating EHS activities.
- Working knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
- Experience supporting contractor management in a complex operational environment.
- Strong communication, investigation and report-writing skills.
- Experience supporting audits, inspections or management-system activities
- Facilities Management and GMP/GxP environment experience is desired.
- Auditor qualification is desirable
