    Assistant Cleaning Manager

    Location – York Designer Outlet, YO19 4TA

    Hours – 5 out of 7 days, 40 hours per week including a wide variety of shifts

    In this role you’ll support the cleaning manager with overseeing the cleanliness of our clients’ premises, York Designer Outlet to the highest levels. Your tasks will include leading the recruitment of new cleaning team members and assisting in leading a team of 25 – 30 cleaning supervisors and front line staff to ensure high standards of cleaning of the client’s environment, using a range of tools and materials to a level in accordance with BICS standards.

    As an Apleona assistant cleaning manager, you will also support the manager with budgets, audit, and staff rotas to maximise the use of internal staff.  You will also provide the focal point for the client for compliance, audit, health & safety and cleaning schedules, and be willing to pitch in with a variety of tasks linked to your job in order to support your manager, your team and our client.

    Our Ideal candidate will need to have:

    • Excellent customer care skills gained in a busy retail/hospitality environment
    • Experience of handling the full recruitment cycle
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Outstanding people management ability and experience of managing large teams
    • A strong desire to deliver great results
    • Willingness to be hands on to support your team
    • Innovative approach to problem solving
    • Flexibility to support the team during absence and holidays etc.
    • The ability to work alone when required
    • Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Outlook is desirable

    We’ll provide you with full training once you start and make sure that you have everything you need to do a great job. You will have experience of recruiting front line staff and a sound awareness of local labour market challenges. You may already have current IOSH and BICSc qualifications, a track record of working with cleaning industry colour coding and a sound knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies which would be great.  You may also have supervisory experience gained in a similar role.

    You will work Monday to Sunday with alternate weekends, working a wide variety of shifts including occasional nights and bank holidays, and as such must have the flexibility to meet these requirements, and will have access to Apleona employee benefits that will be available to you as soon as you start.  You will also have access to welfare facilities, free hot and cold beverages and up to 10% discount on all retail stores on site plus other great company benefits.
